Although Northwest Georgia is the site of some of the most significant historical moments in the history of the Cherokee nation, many of us who currently live in this region have little awareness of the culture and people whose land we now inhabit. What is the most interesting thing you learned about Cherokee culture from reading Charles Frazier’s Thirteen Moons? How has what you learned changed the way you think about Native Americans, especially those from tribes connected to the South?
How do I submit an entry?
All entries should be typed, double-spaced and not exceed 750 words.
Please includes a coversheet with the following information:
Full name, address, telephone number, student’s school name and total word count for the essay.
Entries may be submitted:
By email - Attach entries as a Microsoft Word attachment to an email addressed to Melinda Holmes at [email protected]. Please include "One Book Many Voices Writing Contest" in the subject line of each email submission. Word attachment title should include student name and school name - ex. Mary Jones-Rome High School
